My usual routine during the week is easy peasy. Because for the most part, I sleep well considering I wake up during the middle of the night to use the John. Or, I have multiple dreams, and the occasional nightmares. My alarm goes off, but sometimes I wake up on my own. And then tidy my bed. My pet peeve is being late to work.
The bus has recently changed their schedule. So, it’s off by a few minutes, no biggie I thought. They’re relatively on time by 6:57am-7:00am. I have to be at work by 7:30, but when I may be covering front desk, my schedule is 8:30-5:00pm. Which is only 3-4 times a month. Again, as long as I’m earlier rather than late to work, I’m good.
Bus mishap
Last Friday, I went to work as usual but was running late in the morning by about 12 minutes. I did my usual early prep for work morning routine. Huh I thought, what is up? I looked at my phone time, and anticipated being about 15- 20 minutes late, and messaged my boss. People, this is not cool. Ok, this is only a fluke, I thought. It’s all good. Let it slide. Well, it’s the bus. Some things are out of our control. So, I get to work and email my boss that I’ve arrived. They don’t micromanage us. Which is why I like my job. It’s trust.
On the way out after work, I head to the bus stop. I don’t even rush, because I’d rather be a passenger on a somewhat empty bus, since the first one takes all the school teens to young adults. And, then I have my own seat. So, I toddle over. It’s about a seven-minute walk, give or take. And it’s exercise. Yea, keep my bones moving.
Normally, the bus arrives at 4:20ish. But I had been hanging around for a while and was getting tired. The bus got there at 4:30. Hallelujah!
This morning, on Wednesday, it was a half hour wait. It’s definitely changed. So, I’m not sure what to think, but had to message my boss again, and emailed in 15 minutes late. Now, I’m rethinking strategizing my commute to work. What are my options? Because now I don’t know how early to head for the bus stop. Perhaps, I can uber to work.(Uber) is rising in rates too! I’m still thinking on this one.
What’s the best way to be on time to work avoiding anymore unnecessary delays, I thought? So, I leave earlier now. And I noticed a posting there’s going to be changes on the bus 51A line for the tunnel overnight closure in my town. So, this is what my week been looked like.
Boss’s Birthday
Today, Friday was an awesome day in comparison to Wednesday. I attended a birthday dinner party with my work colleagues and boss! With fine dining we had cocktails of margaritas, champagne and appetizers of empanadas, tacos, and deviled eggs….but the fancy enough and tasty deviled eggs. The actual dinner was very reasonably priced, and the wait staff was great! It was fun! All fostering conversations and laughing. Taking after work pictures. :)
