Had an awesome potluck with family that contributed and celebrated at my new place. It kind of looks like a view from fishbowl lens. I used to feel weird walking through the parking lot of my old complex years back. As if all eyes on me. With this new place, it’s different with the mini rainforest as a center piece in the front yard. It totally takes away from that fishbowl lens. And our parking lot is in the back. It’s a pretty good size place that I enjoyed celebrating with my loved ones. At the entrance to the left leading to my complex are beautiful trees lined up within a decorated rock flower bed filled with soil and few little plants.
The interior theme of my place, which was unplanned is black and white. I originally wanted all creme color, but my first experience of furniture shopping sort of went awry. So, I shopped for furniture covers and improvised. With two sofas set like an L shape against the wall of my living room surrounding my modern coffee table and ottoman.

This is the most similar picture of what the view entails. The picture I originally had was way zoomed for the page, so I didn’t want to post it. O lord, this appears zoomed as well. Pardon me…..🤣

The family gathering was fun and engaging as we did a chow down and laughter while watching the Warrior’s game. It was all of us siblings, excluding my eldest brother, from Texas. And my daughter joined us for a bit. Although, one of my brother’s arrived when everyone else was leaving! Overall, I’m happy with the outcome.
It was a bittersweet evening. And frankly, I wanted to invite a couple of my friends too. However, the space wouldn’t accommodate the capacity. So, family only was it. We reminisced a little on our childhood. Touched on our initial arrival to the states. My sister teased about how my hair was jet black color, and would stand up like weeds, when I was very young. That my head had to be covered with a beanie. The time when we lived in New York for a hot minute and flocked to Cali since our parents weren’t a fan of fog nor the cold, on top of that…….the hustle and bustle of New York city.
As you can see, I love, love, love family gatherings. But mostly spend at my sibling’s houses, like my sister’s or my brother’s place. Because, as explained earlier, my place doesn’t fit well in capacity. Their house is a lot bigger in comparison. As you will see in my previous posts. I volunteer hosting because I have some admiration for it and like spreading the love!
The food consisted of delicious rice and beans, pizza, a Filipino dessert Ginataan. It’s basically (sticky rice balls in coconut milk and various ingredients.) (It’s a sweet soup.) I cooked chicken wings adobo. Someone brought mini-Shanghai lumpia. You get the idea. The drinks were Vodka soda and Irish whiskey shots. And even though the Warrior’s lost the game. At least the score was damn near close!
Don’t get me wrong, I only cook once in a blue moon. If at all. So, I am by no means a cook, and do not generally like it. I just made a secret exception to myself. 😘

Some of us had work the following morning, so I wrapped it up around 8:30ish. So, this concludes my evening as I think everyone was getting tired too. I know I was. We said our goodbyes, and it was a pleasant ending to the evening. Thank you fam! Lots of love! 😊😘
Until next time…..Pearl
